Perched on a rise above the scenic Egg Harbor River in Mays Landing is a popular local bar, Testa’s Good Guys Pub. The family-run establishment draws a large crowd of regulars, business people and college students.
“No matter who you are or what you do, you feel at home here,” said owner Rob Testa.
Decorated from floor to ceiling in sports pictures, posters and autographed paraphernalia that has been collected by the family over the last decade, the pub has a true hometown feel. Sports fans can enjoy all the games and during football season the bar offers a halftime buffet. For a more hands-on approach, patrons can play a few games of pool or darts. Testa’s offers both pool and dart tournaments throughout the year.
But sports aren’t the only attraction at Testa’s. On Friday and Saturday night the bar transforms into a dance party with DJs Sonny and Jay playing popular disks and patron favorites.
Each night, Testa’s offers specials ranging from half-price happy hour drinks to $3 beer pints. Just the tip of the iceberg, Wednesday is Ladies Night and weekends bring $2.50 bottles.
But specials don’t stop with the drinks. Testa’s has an ample-sized dining area that serves hearty lunches and late-night snacks. Discounted menu items are featured weekly. Monday is “Wing Night,” with 35-cent wings and tail tenders for a buck. Tuesdays and Thursdays offer a full-course Mexican menu until closing. Patrons can chow down on a full-course prime rib dinner for less $13 every Friday.
Testa’s has a large commitment to its customers and the community. Owner Rob Testa provides a Jitney service to ensure the safety of his patrons during holidays such as St. Patrick’s Day and New Years Eve. He pays out of his pocket to shuttle patrons home after a night at the bar. The pub is also active in assisting local charities. This month, the bar participates in the SPCA fundraiser to prevent animal cruelty.
Open from 10:30 am to 3 a.m., the bar is known for its fresh food, affordable prices and spirited staff. Testa’s Good Guys Pub has public parking on property and is a cash-only bar with ATM inside. Drink prices range from approximately $2.50 to $7 with daily food discounts and late night menu.
