Chic & Unique for the Holidays
Move over, Fifth Avenue. Atlantic City now boasts its own chic and unique retail offerings. For the holiday season, that means you don’t have to travel far to get the hottest sellers, best bargains and standout gifts. And even better, we’ve done the homework for you. We’ve pre-shopped to find some great options. Naughty or nice, these are gifts that are sure to please.
Out Of The Box
Instead of putting another boring tie or a bad cheese-and-meat set on your holiday gift list this year, think out of the box. Sure, it’s easy to go to the mall and pick up another sweater for your nephew who will never wear it, but here are some thoughtful suggestions of things you can’t buy off a store shelf. And most are indigenous to our area.
The Spirit of Giving
The Rockefellers are largely known for two things: wealth and philanthropy. However, patriarch John D. Rockefeller believed that it was the latter that fed the former, not the other way around. “The power to make money is a gift,” he asserted. “Having been endowed with the gift, it is my duty to make money and still more money and use the money I make for the good of my fellow man.” As a result, the Rockefeller name is forever linked to education, medicine and the arts just as equally as oil, banking and investments. Today, it isn’t just the Rockefellers writing big checks to charity. According to a recent report, corporate giving in 2005 approached $13.8 billion. For casinos, that involves much more than donating money. It involves a well-planned strategy to effect maximum impact: on the charity, the community and the very employees who serve as the face of the company, both on the front line and in their neighborhoods.
