Old home week for two AC casino companies

Two Atlantic City veterans were named to head two of the leading Atlantic City gaming companies last month.

At Trump Entertainment Resorts, James Perry was named chief executive officer, in charge of all operations of the company. In addition to the three Atlantic City properties, Trump also owns a riverboat casino in Gary, Indiana. Perry retired as chairman of Argosy Gaming in 2004, and has served as a board member of Trump since it emerged from bankruptcy earlier this year.

"Jim is a great guy and loves the company," Donald Trump told Casino Connection. "We're lucky to get him and now that we've reduced our debt so much, we're poised to become the greatest casino company in Atlantic City once again."

Before joining Argosy, Perry served as president and CEO of the Tropicana for several years and has a rich background in casino operations in Atlantic City.

At Resorts International, which owns Resorts AC and the AC Hilton, Roger Wagner has been named chief operating officer. Resorts International, a division of Colony Capital, bought the Hilton when Caesars Entertainment sold it off prior to the company's purchase by Harrah's Entertainment.

Wagner most recently served as COO of Horseshoe Gaming prior to its sale to Harrah's Entertainment. He has previously as the president and COO of Trump Castle (now Trump Marina) and president and COO of the Claridge (now part of Bally's Atlantic City). In addition, he has held executive positions at many legendary properties, including the Dunes, Frontier, MGM Grand and the Sands in Las Vegas.

Nicholas L. Ribis, president, chief executive officer and vice chairman of Resorts, said the addition of Wagner is another step in adding to the already-strong management team at Resorts.

"Roger Wagner is one of the top gaming executives in the country, an exceptional talent who builds bottom line success while focusing on providing the highest quality customer service," Ribis said. "Wagner is uniquely qualified to take our company to the next level."
