![]()
Heartthrob John Mayer returns to Atlantic City this month to lay down his smooth guitar licks at the Borgata on July 22.
One of the most popular singer/songwriters in music today, Mayer has attracted a legion of fans not only through his good looks but his breathy delivery and coy stage presence. But Mayer is more than just a pretty boy with a guitar. With meaningful, well-crafted songs, his music has topped the charts for the past seven years.
He rocketed to stardom in 2001 with the hit single “Your Body is a Wonderland” from his debut album,
Room for Squares. His follow-up CD,
Heavier Things, showed his true talent for introspective ballads and blues-inflected rock. Mayer’s hit single “Daughters” was one of the most radio-friendly songs of 2003.
Mayer showcased his musical chops by collaborating with drummer Steve Jordan and bassist Pino Palladino on the live album Try, released in 2005. The following year, he released
Continuum, displaying his musical maturity with songs that reference getting older such as “Waiting on The World to Change.”
Mayer’s appearance at Borgata later this month is sure to attract blues fans and screaming teenage girls alike. But it is his magnetic stage presence and heartfelt delivery that really makes his live performances memorable.
J ohn Mayer performs at 8 p.m. June 22 at Borgata’s Event Center. Tickets are $75.50 and $95.50.
