Making the Goal
The Atlantic Soccer League closed out its 20th season with an exciting championship game in October. Nineteen teams and nearly 500 players—many of whom work in the casino industry—competed for the coveted Harrah’s Cup, donated by league sponsor Harrah’s Atlantic City.
The trophy went to Defensor Lima, which narrowly beat out AC United in a game that was decided on penalty kicks after double overtime.
With more than 150 countries represented, including Peru, Salvador, Mexico and Honduras, the Atlantic Soccer League unites the Hispanic/Latino community, offering an outlet for some of the area’s best athletes.
