Vol. 4, No. 1, January 2007
Legendary Crooner
![]()
Possibly the greatest living legend in the standards genre of the music world, Tony Bennett still has the vocal goods to deliver in concert.
He might be 80 years old, but that doesn’t stop Bennett from impressing audiences whenever he steps on stage with his signature voice and ability to make jazz cool for the masses.
Whether he’s belting out his signature “I Left My Heart in San Francisco,” giving a nod to his late friend Frank Sinatra or just scatting with a four-piece jazz band, Bennett remains one of the must-see shows on the casino circuit.
If you plan to check out Bennett’s performances January 26 and 27 at Harrah’s, don’t be surprised to see Bennett mixing it up. He’s known for wowing the crowds by starting small with a quartet before bringing down the house backed by a full orchestra.
One of the most popular singers in history, Bennett has constantly redefined himself throughout his long career, first gaining fame as a pop crooner and moving on roles as an adult contemporary star and jazz singer.
The Queens, New York, native released a CD of love songs, The Art of Romance, in 2004, so expect some songs from that.
You can also expect to hear tunes from his latest effort, Duets: An American Classic, where he teams with a diverse group of artists, including Barbra Streisand, Bono from U2, the Dixie Chicks, Tim McGraw, Stevie Wonder, Sting and others.
To see him in the relatively intimate Harrah’s Concert Venue will really be a special event.
Tony Bennett performs 9 p.m. January 26 and 27 in Harrah’s Concert Venue. Tickets are $100.
