Late-Show Laughs

Even though you can see Craig Ferguson every weeknight for free, you’ll really get to see how talented the comedian is when he comes to the House of Blues January 27.

The host of CBS’ Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson doesn’t have as much time to show off his stand-up routine on tour anymore, so take advantage of the House of Blues show, which should be very funny.

The Glasgow, Scotland, native began his rise in the entertainment industry as the drummer for “some of the worst bands in the U.K.,” before being persuaded by a theater’s artistic director to give acting a shot while he was earning a living as a bartender.

Ferguson discovered he had a knack for comedy, ultimately landing his own show on the BBC, The Ferguson Theory. He eventually moved to the U.S. for acting gigs that included the short-lived Maybe This Time on ABC with Betty White and Marie Osmond, which led to his breakout gig as the boss on The Drew Carey Show. Ferguson certainly keeps busy. Aside from his stand-up gigs, late-night hosting duties and TV gigs, he also wrote the films The Big Tease, Saving Grace and I’ll Be There, the latter which he also directed and starred in. His witty first novel, Between the Bridge and the River, was published last spring.

Craig Ferguson performs 9 p.m. January 27 at Showboat’s House of Blues. Tickets are $45.
