Holiday Tradition
![]()
The Quarter at Tropicana revived an age-old holiday tradition with the lighting of what is now Atlantic City's "Official Holiday Tree," a 25-foot tree in the central Fiesta Plaza of the Havana-themed mall.
Comedian Charlie Prose emceed the festivities, which included a performance by the cast of Spirit of Christmas, the Trop's current revue show, caroling by a choir from the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City, strolling violinist Colin Matthews, and the season's first performance by Rob Richards, the Disneyland organist who is on the Quarter's third level playing what is billed as the world's largest theater organ.
Attendees sipped eggnog from Brûlée as City Council President Craig Callaway read the city ordinance designating the Quarter's tree as the official holiday tree for the city.
The lighting of the new official tree kicks off the Tropicana's first "Holiday Spectacular." For the entire holiday season, the Quarter will feature holiday décor and culinary displays, themed wreaths provided by the local MAPS Foundation, and other attractions (see page 8 for more details).
The event wrapped up with the Quarter's first "snow shower" of the season, as faux snow drifted from the retail center's faux sky to evaporate on attendees' clothing. This is another touch of the classic holiday season that will be around the Quarter for the next few weeks.
